The modern city of Istanbul, once the
heart of Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, is a fascinating blend of East
and West. The graceful minarets and domes of the Blue Mosque, Saint
Sophia, Topkapi Palace and mystical Grand Bazaar are some of the
landmarks which have attracted travelers and trade for centuries...
And Orient House is one of these wonders. The construction date of
cellar is not known. However, according to estimations by the
historian's, it was built towards the end of the Ottoman Empire (tulip
period). This location was used as a theater in the early years of
twentieth century. It was restored several times at different dates.
The Grand Bazaar and historical sights such as the Blue Mosque, the
Hippodrome, St Sophia Topkapi Palace and the Underground Cistern are
within walking distance.
